Wheel Warriors-
A significant group in Yllria, Rex's home continent, but with a presence in much of the world. The Wheel Warriors are somewhere between mercenaries and self-appointed police. They seek to do good and keep the peace, funding themselves by taking jobs. They are primarily known for escorting people around the dangerous routes between settlements, hence the name. Wherever they go, they enforce their own laws regardless of the local ones and maintain a prison at their HQ. Many places accept their authority, thanks to their stellar reputation and the fact their rules are based on genuine desire to do good. There are however some places they are not welcome (especially towns that allow slavery or host raiders), and wise clients will avoid hiring them to travel there because they'll be sure to pick a fight if they accept the job.
Although influential in having many settlements follow the rule of law and making towns safer, one of the more significant contributions they've made was accidental. The wheel tokens they use to indicate a period of service have such universal value across Yllria they've become an acceptable currency across much of the continent.
The warrior's origins were similarly unexpected. The group began as nothing more than people imitating the mysterious roaming do-gooder, Road Knight. A motorcycle riding, full plate wearing, certified badass with a gentle heart but a vicious right hook and hatred of slavery, Road Knight was eventually elected the group's leader without asking her if she wanted to be. She took the task on, all the same, to ensure the job was done right.
The average Wheel Warrior is pretty strong, though not 'send bandits running screaming in fear' strong, though the upper echelon is more fearsome. Road Knight is one of the most hardened warriors in Yllria, which is to be expected, as she was the first of Helen Arany's disciples.
Road Knight, real name Honey Bea Flowers, was a child slave that was freed by Helen when they crossed paths. Helen was pregnant with her first child at the time and chose not to destroy the local slave trade herself. Helen took Honey on so she could do so on her behalf. And to have something to do while she avoided strenuous activity.
Wheel Warriors are well regarded in general, but known for being hardnosed and unwilling to compromise. They butt heads with the Iron Jaws at every opportunity.
Iron Jaws-
If someone has an indifference for human misery and a willingness to make a short term profit off of it, they become a bandit. If they prefer to play the long game, they join the Iron Jaws. Muscle for hire for corrupt leadership, billing themselves as a law enforcement/security organisation. The Iron Jaws are often found employed in larger settlements, keeping the little people in line and preventing dissent. They profit coming and going, as they sell prisoners as slaves. Members that prove themselves and receive a rank are converted into cyborgs, all of whom receive metal jaws to match their leader's signature look. This makes them quite a frightful force, though they're just as likely to be picking on the weak as they are fighting fair. They're universally reviled by everyone but those who employ or buy from them, but you're not likely to find someone who will talk badly to them to their face.
Their leader, Nikoloz Giorgadze, originally named the organisation the Iron Laws. Already a strong and ruthless bandit, he gained control of a still functional Global State military complex which allowed him to reliably perform cyborg conversions. He saw an opportunity to be more than a thug and founded the Iron Laws. They were successful in the seedier parts of the continent, and their bustling slave trade brought him great fortune. However, when he had his jaw ripped off in a battle with Honey before she became Road Knight, the derogatory name Iron Jaws arose, and he claimed it for himself. The group is not so powerful as it once was, now the Wheel Warriors compete with them. Nikoloz is in his 90s and is nothing more than a head on a mechanical body.
The average ranked Iron Jaw is quite dangerous, but many rely on their cyborg enhancements excessively. Low-level thugs without them will often instead lean on the group's reputation to intimidate others and avoid battles if they can help it. It's a closely guarded secret that all ranked Iron Jaws are equipped with self-destruct devices during their conversion and are unable to quit the organisation.
The Thunder Brigade-
The Thunder Brigade is one of the few pre-war organisations still in existence. In the ancient past, they consisted entirely of the adopted children of the hero, Tondra "Thunder" Cake, who raised tens of children to be noble warriors and spent the entire time being tsundere about it. If Wheel Warriors are cops and Iron Jaws are "cops", then Thunder Brigade members are superheroes. Their current leader, Robin"Gentleman Hurricane" Chiffon, has strict rules about the minimum strength of their warriors. Thus while their active combat members number very few, each one is a shining beacon of power and honour. They are one of the rare genuinely global groups, as every member can travel even the dangerous post-war world without fear. They are more focused on battling dangerous monsters than enforcing law and order between humans, most members binding themselves to strict rules of conduct not to interfere with sovereign states. Many members hold other positions and only take up the banner of the brigade when asked to complete a quest. As they will not accept rewards for their work, each member must also be independently able to fund themselves.
On top of being one the world's strongest men, Robin holds the distinction of being the person with the most children in the world. He runs his noble estate as an orphanage, but he can't stop himself from adopting each resident himself if they'll let him. Many of them are brigade hopefuls.
