You know I've been craving some western food lately. How about pizza? It'll have plenty of cheese.
[And maybe ice cream for dessert... yeah. Forcing him to have a little enjoyment under the guise of him being a put-upon helper. It's fine. Feeding him will be her fee for employing his help.]
Don't get too friendly or I might have to uninvite you. Anyway, you said about an hour, right? I'll order the pizza in a little bit so it's fresh when you get here.
[ Is that him being the Way He Is or was that a joke about not getting friendly?
Eh.
Both?
Either way he does show up on time. Grey, nondescript van, tinted windows, the whole ‘do not notice’ deal. He parks up and has a duffel bag with him when he comes to the door. Exorcism supplies. ]
[If he would have just said "affirmative" she would have assumed the text from someone else she knew. Hah.
Well, when he arrives Kaname lets him in. There's a place to slip off shoes right at the door, and to the left little cubbies to put them aside in. Once down the hallway they'll make it to the living room. At the other side of the main living space is a glass sliding door that leads to a small balcony. To the left is a kitchen that also doubles as a dining space. To the right is another hallway leading to three bedrooms, a bathroom, and a storage closet.
The place is actually pretty big for one person to live in! But that's because her whole family used to live here before moving to New York. She's the only one that ended up coming back to the place after the passing of her mother, though.]
Come on in. Pizza just got here before you did.
[The box is sitting unopened on the coffee table in the living room.]
[ His boots come off naturally, not like some westerners where it's a stumbling block or afterthought. It's a Bulgarian thing too.
Rex examines the enviroment with an impassive eye, coming up with a wide variety of theories as to why exactly she lives alone in such a big place. Comparatively, it's luxury to him, but he doesn't let it show on his tombstone face. ]
Ah. Thank you.
[ He can't hide the slightly predatory look in his eye when he locks onto that pizza though.
Actually, he's made an assumption it would be best to check- ]
Oh— Yeah, don't worry about anyone else being here. The rest of my family lives in New York, so it's not like they can just pop in on us.
[Chidori turns toward the kitchen pulling out a large bottle of soda and two glasses so they may share. Sure, they could use the dining table that's in the kitchen, but she doesn't feel the need to. She'd rather use the cramped space on the coffee table so she can sit on the couch.]
[ Part of him wants to pry, but the rest is very socially awkward and doesn't know what's rude or not to ask about. Life is hard as a giant feral man. ]
That certainly makes the task easier to complete, at least.
[ He hasn't shared a meal in many years either and takes a seat- unable to tear his eyes off of the pizza box. He isn't literally drooling, but it's close. But technically it's her meal and thus he genuinely expects he's just going to be given whatever scraps she doesn't want. ]
[Chidori pours the soda and foists the second glass at him before throwing open the top of the pizza box. It's the closest to New York style as she could get, and it's clear that it's half and half. One side extra cheese, one side pepperoni.]
I didn't know what other toppings you like so I left your part with just cheese. That should be fine, right?
[ It’s astoundingly sad that half a cheese pizza is nicest gift he’s been given in twelve years but maybe more sad that he doesn’t realise it aside from a brief widening of his eyes and a sudden, shocking and instinctive affection for her, which he will hide as if it’s shameful. This is what happens when you feed stray dogs. ]
My favourite, as it so happens.
[ The second he has the go ahead to eat, he starts. It’s not that he’s sloppy. It just vanishes, quick as he can manage without making a mess. That might cost him a crumb. ]
[Kaname isn't at all dainty with her own food, but jeez. He really inhales it! She'll be on her third slice staring at him in disbelief. Her mouth full of pizza and a string of cheese connecting her lips still to the slice.
[ It's only when there's not a crumb of his half left that he drinks. It's the same philosophy- he puts the glass to his lips and doesn't remove it until it's all gone. He tips backwards a bit so that he can hold the glass straight down so he doesn't miss a drop.
It's when he's done with that he notices her staring. ]

I’m fine.

[ No. Not more than usual at least. But he senses a ‘forcing you to take care of yourself moment’ and he can’t stomach one of those right now. ]

[Chidori is too stubborn (and familiar with such tactics) to be put off by that.]

I'm going to be getting something to eat when you arrive anyway, so do you have any preferences?

I'm extremely fond of dairy products.

As I shall be your guest, I would be honoured to receive anything- therefore that sounds satisfactory.
[ Woah slow down there no need to show so much enthusiasm. ]
